My First Post - Welcome to TribeStyle!

Hi There,

I just thought I would give you all a little bit of information about myself so you can get to understand the person behind TribeStyle.
My name is Sharon Flynn, I am a Fashion Industry Practice Graduate from GTI in Galway. I found this to be a great course, but like a everything else in life there is nothing like the real world experience to give you a more thorough and enlightened education.
I am passionate about fashion but I wouldn't say I am a slave to fashion. I believe that fashion should be fun, and you should never take yourself too seriously.
This blog has been in my mind for well over a year now, and now that I am winding down some other projects at the moment I have made a finally made a commitment to TribeStyle and I will give it all the attention it deserves.
So I will be out and about in Galway over the summer taking some snaps (another hobby of mine!) as well as reporting to you on what is trending, local and beyond! It could be fashion, it could be art, it could be ..... anything. Best of all, it could be YOU!
But for now I am adding a bit of my college portfolio so maybe you will get to understand a bit more about me. I hope you like it.

All Dolled Up

This is a styling shoot, my friend Elizabeth is the model, she really is a living doll, just look at her porcelain complexion!
The photographer is the very talented Sean McCormack, check out his website

Visor-Vision

This is my recycled garment (modelled by Niamh) which I made from sun-visor hats. I managed to sew them all together as luckily they were made with material and not plastic, so it was of pretty sound construction thankfully. I was inspired by structures such as the Sydney Opera House, modern suspension bridges and the futuristic aesthetic of the remake of the movie TRON.

This is me posing in my mini styling shoot, located at the Glenlo Abbey Hotel, where I am on a carriage of the Orient Express! I took inspiration from the 1940s and created a scene where this woman has to leave home for some mysterious reason .... I never figured out what it was though!
 Any guesses?

This is my Ikea window display. I basically created a room that was flipped it on its side, the only props falling due to the gravity are the flowers and the magazines. I made all props by hand, this was a compulsory element to the display module in the course as it helps me to get full marks.

Going GaGa!

This is an upcycled body stocking customised with beaded/studded bib necklaces, both from Primark, and it is modelled by my beautiful cousin Colleen. I used the bibs to emphasise the contours of the body shape. I was inspired by Lady GaGa, but you probably knew that already!
This is a print shot of it being featured in the Galway Advertiser, it's great to get a high quality pic of your work ... as well as the free publicity itself!

So, that's a snippet of my college work, what do you think?
